From a young age we are taught to be afraid of math and that math is hard. My main goal is to change my student's perspective of math. If you are confident in a subject or if you enjoy a subject that is when you thrive in learning. I am here to make math fun as well as making math make sense. I once struggled with mathematics as well but once I found the joy of math I have thrived in my Mechanical Engineering Major and Mathematics Minor.

What is your teaching philosophy?

Confidence is the key to success in any situation in life. My goal is to make my clients feel comfortable and form long-term confidence in their subject.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

First we would spend some time getting to know each other so I can understand how this student thinks and decide on the best way to tackle the subject at hand. Then we would jump right into whatever questions they have as a whole. If there are no questions, we would discuss homework problems or examples their instructor provides them so I can understand how the instructor grades and wants problems to be solved.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I try to make the learning environment fun in order to keep the student interested in the subject at hand. Most of the time, dislike of a subject is the best way to discourage a student from wanting to study. By making the tutoring session a safe and enjoyable experience, this can boost the student's morale and confidence in the subject.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I will tackle a problem in many different ways until the student understands. This is why it is so important to make sure that I understand how the student thinks and how they learn.
