During my year in Connecticut, I took Honors and AP Chemistry, Honors and AP Physics, and Honors Calculus; I also received the CollegeBoard AP Scholar with Honors Award.
I have experience tutoring the New SAT. I understand the material and subtle nuances of the test. I have developed test-taking strategies that help a great deal when taking the SAT.

Many practice problems, and then practice exams in virtual/real test-taking scenarios.

Find the problem areas. Possibly through a test to see where he/she stands.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Give incentives to learn and reach new academic heights.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Keep at it, and look for different ways to teach the concept.

Welcoming all questions so that they aren't scared to ask even the simplest of questions.

Test the material regularly until perfected.

Break it down into its simplest concepts so that they can build upon them.

Through practice/evaluation tests.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
I will have to see what method is most effective through experience with the student, and then go with that method.
