Ask what they expect to learn from the course and what type of learner they are (listener, hands on, or visual).

Finding out the best way the understand information whether it's by obtaining examples or placing themselves in a scenario to better understand the questions. This can be accomplished by reading questions aloud, rewriting sentences, or simply reading something and asking questions if they do not understand.

Find out what makes them happy, whether it's reading out loud to someone, reading while taking notes, or setting a specific time during the days to sit and study and take breaks in between if needed. Goal setting is a must for motivation.

Allow them to read the text out loud to me, and then ask the student to explain to me, in their own opinion, what the text meant and explained to them. This allows the student to become an independent thinker while at the same time allowing them to teach me what they have learned.

I found that by obtaining feedback from the student and allowing them to share their feelings about the course work allowed them to become more engaged and gain a sense of self-purpose and importance which leads to increased confidence.

By providing positive reinforcement constantly and encouraging the student and informing them to keep going, even if they feel like quitting. I do this because no one is perfect and many people have failed but are still successful due to their persistence of never giving up.

I would ask the student for feedback after each course and ask them to explain to me what they learned from the material that was taught. This is to ensure they were paying attention and comprehended the coursework as well as to be sure the student and I are viewing the material the same way. This is done in order to avoid miscommunication between myself and the student.

I would continue to encourage the student by telling them what they did correctly and even if they didn't get the right answer the first time, I would tell them not to worry because they will understand the material with more practice and by trying another way that may help them understand the material. There is more than one way to obtain an answer, and we will find the best way they will understand.

I evaluate their needs based on the feedback they provide to me, in order to understand what they comprehended from the course work, aside from their grade in the course.

I obtain the student's feedback to the coursework and attempt to identify their learning style and best approach to meet their specific needs.

I enjoy using Prezi because the designs used on Prezi changes each time, which will grab the attention of the student when the slides change. I also like utilizing flashcards (for studying), highlighting material (for reading), and obtaining feedback most of all. Discussing with the student and explaining the material in an understandable manner is the best way to teach the student, to me.
