Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee and the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama. I received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Lipscomb, and a Masters of Arts in Library Media from UWA. I taught several middle school and secondary school English in the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools for twenty-five years before becoming a Library Media Specialist. I worked for five years in the Library Media Center for a local middle school before my retirement.

I developed a desire for teaching when I was in the 4th grade. My 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Barnett, used many techniques years before they became popular. She used Study Buddies and small groups in order to ensure that her students learned the material they were assigned.


In 2006, I was selected as a Walmart Teacher of the Year. I was presented a $1,000.00 check to purchase supplies for my students. Additionally, I received a $50.00 gift card to be used for my personal use.

I enjoy spending time with my family, especially on Sundays when we all gather at our house for Sunday dinner. I also enjoy quilting, sewing, and reading.
