Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ. I have a B.A. in English Language and Literature and an M.A.T. I have taught every grade between 7th and 12th over the last 15 years, but mostly 11th and 12th (more than one grade level at a time). I have the immense privilege to teach abroad in a bilingual international school while I was with my family during the pandemic.
I love helping students through tutoring because I know that sometimes class time isn't enough to fully understand something, or to have that light bulb moment; you know, the moment when your whole face lights up because you understand the concept on a level that is so much more than just recorded, that moment when a lesson becomes something you will always have stowed away. Tutors help students get there. As a teacher I clearly see that in my own students; I see how the extra help makes them extraordinary! This is why I take time out to tutor, to help build extraordinary people.

My standards are high when it comes to what I expect from my students. I go in with complete confidence that the students are all capable of the highest quality of work, but I believe that shines in a low pressure environment. The more comfortable we both are, the easier it will be to learn.

I like to associate lessons with pop culture and current events, taking information that students are already familiar with and adding to it is a great way to build esteem.

I enjoy reading fiction novels, I dabble in writing poetry and drawing. I love Broadway; if I wasn't a teacher, I would take my shot on the Broadway stage.
