Certified Tutor

I am an educator with several years of experience teaching and tutoring students, primarily at the college level. I hold my Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Furman University and my Master’s degree in cognitive science from Purdue University.

I have primarily taught or tutored in psychology and statistics. I also have experience tutoring students in GRE/SAT/ACT test prep. Out of all of these, I especially enjoy tutoring psychology because there are so many fun examples and activities that can be incorporated into learning to help illustrate difficult to learn concepts.

My personal teaching philosophy is that I will do everything I can to help a student learn. If a student is more comfortable with visuals then I will focus on coming up with good visual examples, or if a student prefers quizzing I will develop custom quizzes. Whatever may be the case I will do anything I can to help the student learn.

I am also an education researcher. I specifically study what types of educational activities maximize student learning, and I use that to my advantage when tutoring students.

Outside of tutoring I often enjoy designing and building things whether that means making a new website, doing some woodworking, or even building a new computer.
