I began taking Spanish classes in 7th grade. My interest had been sparked and I continued taking Spanish through high school. Through these classes I gained a deeper appreciation of the Spanish language and the multitude of cultures and countries that are connected to it. My passion for this subject stuck with me entering into college and lead me to go on a service trip to El Salvador. I enjoyed being able to practice Spanish in El Salvador and was ready for more adventures abroad. I decided to major in Spanish and my junior year I studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain. Upon returning, I worked as a Spanish tutor in the Spanish department during my last year at CLU. I received my B.A. in Spanish at California Lutheran University in 2016. After graduating I worked as a bilingual assistant at an elementary school where I was able to keep practicing the language. In 2018 I went on my second immersive Spanish trip for three months (as a volunteer) to Nicaragua. My experiences abroad have enriched my understanding of the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures. My current jobs as an educational assistant for English learners and as a Spanish assessment rater also add to my knowledge of Spanish.
In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, singing, going on walks and hikes, photography, and dance/yoga/pilates. I also enjoy attending Spanish conversation groups that have additionally supported my continued application of the language. I am excited to have the opportunity to help teach others this beautiful language.
