I'm a Georgetown finance buff, SAT prep aficionado, pizza worshipper, and proud nerd. Due to my previous acceptance into 14 universities, including business schools like NYU Stern, Im particularly interested in working with high school students who need targeted assistance with test prep, college applications, and essay writing. My tutoring approach involves a holistic learning process that allows students to improve their academic skills in a multifaceted manner, through the six step process that I've perfected through nearly two years of one-on-one experience with clients of all age brackets. The first is identification, where students are given an interactive set of learning exercises and it's determined whether they're visual, auditory, verbal, sequential, kinesthetic, repetitive, or combination learners. Next, we have exposure, where the learning material is presented in a way the student will understand best in accordance with his or her previously identified learning style. Afterwards comes application, where the student is given targeted exercises and real-life context to better comprehend and work with the material. Finally we have analysis (where together we analyze the information and its meaning), synthesis (where the student and I make a study guide and flashcards together) and evaluation (where we go over the whole of the curriculum using the review materials we've created together to prepare for the student's examination.) I provide all students with mini quizzes, problem sets, and flashcards to keep their skills fresh while also keeping them actively engaged. I also encourage them to relax and reward them for good results. Some choose Starbucks frappuccinos, some choose pizza delivery, and one girl insisted I come shopping with her after the session and offer fashion tips, though thats usually not in the job description. The direction that my experience with each student takes is independently influenced by who they are, what they want, and how they learn. How sessions are crafted is almost entirely in the students hands, but the one component that remains constant across the board is my ability to cultivate potential and foster excellence.
