A current first grade teacher, I love working with students to achieve reading and writing goals. I am a great tutor because I have over a decade of experience teaching children. I work with students to break down information into easy to manage pieces and make sure they are understanding each step as they go along. If students still seem to be struggling, I return to more basic concepts and help them build upon what they already know. I use a variety of methods in my tutoring including visual aids, hands-on materials, books, and online sources to ensure that all students' learning styles are compatible with my lesson plans. Building a connection with my students is extremely important to me.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is Montessori inspired.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Ice breakers! We talk about a common interest or read books about not worrying.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I often bring sand timers and give them a chance to work alone with a soft deadline.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Small rewards such as stickers and a LOT of positive talk keep students motivated!
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Practice makes perfect!
