I am a graduate of John Carroll University where I received a BA in Early Childhood Education. Since graduation I have realized how strong my passion is for education and I decided to attend Johns Hopkins University where I received a Master of Science in Education. I am in my fifth year of teaching and have taughtet everything from Kindergarten to Eighth Grade. My favorite part of working with students is seeing that "Ah-Ha!" moment. I love learning about my students as a whole so that I can make instruction as relevant as possible to them. In my free time I enjoy staying active by rowing, a sport I came to love in my early years of college. I have also served as an Academic Mentor to the John Carroll Rowing team.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
I love to have students be as hands-on as possible. In a typical math session I use manipulatives such as an abacus, counting blocks, dominoes, dice and even money!
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a typical first session I spend the first few minutes getting a feel for the student and their perceived learning style. From there, I ask more direct questions of what their goals for themselves are. Once goals are set I assess and track where a student’s current level is. This serves as a baseline to ensure growth toward the desired goal.
