I first began teaching during my senior year of high school when a woman in my neighborhood asked if I would teach her two little girls piano. When I agreed, I didn't realize I'd fall in love with trying to figure out the best way to communicate abstract concepts and foreign words to those who didn't understand. Seeing the light go on in someone's eyes as they can finally grasp and apply a concept they've been struggling with is the greatest reward for me.

Ever since then I've gone on to work through a B.S. in Civil Engineering and currently am working toward a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture. Through these experiences I've learned that gaining knowledge is a group effort with individual responsibility.

I try my best to make sure basic concepts are understood because a strong foundation can lead to secure, confident application later on. Often going back to the basics is the most important part of how I approach learning.
