What is your teaching philosophy?
Everyone has the potential to learn anything to the highest degree.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I'd understand the student and his/her way of learning. I understand their goals and what they aim to get out of the tutoring sessions.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Engage in more active learning. Go through problems and focus on the process of coming to a correct answer.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
By focusing on their accomplishments and reminding them that the challenges ahead are no different from the ones they have already overcome.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Try different approaches.
