Certified Tutor
I am the daughter of two English professors with a passion for reading, writing, and teaching. I grew up in Arizona, but I moved to PA for school. A college student myself, I love interacting with other students and collaborating. I always find I have more to learn and there's nothing I enjoy more than working on writing with someone else.
I went to a competitive, Advanced Placement high school and took nine AP classes over the course of my four years. I most enjoyed my English classes, but I also loved taking AP Psychology. I am interested in human thought and behavior and I've found that adding my skills in writing to my love of people has made the social sciences the best area of study for me.
My teaching style is relaxed and fun. I am friendly and outgoing, and I've heard I am very easy to get along with and make my students and peers feel comfortable. Working with me will include many helpful test-taking tips, as I took both the PSAT and the SAT twice. I will always do my best to make sure I am providing a wide variety of strategies for your academic success. I will always be checking in to be sure you understand me and I understand you.
When I'm not writing, reading, or working (I'm a supervisor at my college's dining hall as well as a tutor), I am probably singing opera, in choir, or in my a cappella group. I am a singer and I plan to minor in music. I also love hockey, dance, and interior design. I love to travel and I've been to China, Argentina, and Canada with my choir. I've also been to Puerto Rico, London, and Italy.
I would love to work with you. Please contact me if you have any questions!

What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is that my students learn best when we are able to communicate well while also having a good time. I've got a great sense of humor and I love students I can joke with. I know we can make even hard subjects fun.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a first session with a student, I'd like to know what areas they are having difficulties in and what areas they are succeeding in. I would also want to talk about how the student learns best and how they like to be taught. I will make sure to adjust my teaching style for your success. We will talk about what you want to work on and what you have covered in the class.
