I am a graduate of Vaugelas College with a Bachelors in Languages and Philosophy. I earned my Masters of Fine Arts at the School of Fine Arts at the Ecole Suprieure des Beaux Arts de Nimes. I teach Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced French to a wide range of populations including corporate clientele and private students.
My students find success by learning at their own rhythm, so I conduct the pace of my lessons based on individual student's needs. I have found that students learn most naturally and effectively when they have fun and discover how the French language works through interesting combinations of conversation, varied texts, songs, plays, articles, and literature.
As a French tutor, my focus integrates all aspects of language, including grammar, writing, reading, and speaking. To make this happen, I rely on creative teaching methods and meet my students where they are at in the learning process. Teaching French is fun and engaging, and I share this with my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and making art.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Building strong grammar basis and comprehension, through exploration of French culture and the personal interests of the students.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Encourage the student to watch French documentaries, to read news in French and read about his own interests regularly.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Letting him go at his own rhythm and giving him good feedback.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I will draw it.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I read first so they can hear it. I articulate the pronunciation and the accent. Then, I make them read it several times and I ask simple questions about the text.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
I use objects in context.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I would ask the student his opinion on the subject and how he feels about it. Then I would adapt my teaching method to fit his need.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Describe the context of the lesson and the topic. Then explain the grammar rules and practice with exercises.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
We take our time.

Be listening to the student.

I do research.

Images, texts, objects, my voice.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Name a few objects and teach them the auxiliary TO BE and NOT to BE. Teach how to ask questions like "what is this?" and "is this a book?
