Certified Tutor

I have bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Psychology (magna cum laude) and an M.S. degree in Finance (cum laude). I also hold a Master TEFL/TESOL certificate and Business English Specialist certificate from Global Language Training. I am an experienced English tutor (grammar, reading, writing, ESL, TOEFL) and I have worked with many age groups including children, teenagers and adults and ESL/EFL students in the U.S. and abroad.
I enjoy teaching. The most rewarding part of the job is knowing that I helped a student improve his/her English language skills and grades. I am patient, creative and a great listener. My teaching style is very individualized and customized to the student's needs and goals. I assess the needs of the student and I develop a customized teaching plan. I adjust my teaching strategies as the student improves. I assign homework after each session and provide periodic progress reports. My teaching strategy for ESL students is not to only teach English language skills but also teach cultural understanding by using "authentic" materials (newspapers, magazines, advertisements, pictures etc.). Language and culture are inseparable. In order to be proficient in the English language, ESL students need to understand the underlying culture.
In order to ensure that I am the right tutor for the student, I offer a free phone consultation during which I try to understand the goals of the student and propose a preliminary program. I am generally available for tutoring every day from 9am to 9pm. I am more than happy to meet at any location that is convenient for the student.
