Certified Tutor
I am currently a student at Truman State University studying computer science and economics. I love being able to share my love of learning with others and even more so, I enjoy breaking down material in ways that can help others gain confidence and strength in their studies. I believe that everyone has the ability to learn a subject given that they find the correct learning style for their needs. I have a strong background in both tutoring and teaching and would love to help students feel more satisfied with their course subjects.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that the best way to teach is to start from the basics, see what the student understands and build up. If the student is not feeling confident with the basics, there will only be a continuous uphill battle. Therefore, I love to see with what information the student feels comfortable, and work up from there.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a first session with a student, I try to get to know the student and their needs as well as gain an understanding of which material they feel confident.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I try to gain an understanding of what activities interest the student. If they learn best by physical examples, I try to implement the usage of different tools to improve their learning. I also try to engage the student based on their interests outside of school. If the student is interested in cars, I try to implement cars into different examples.
