In teaching German, or any foreign language for that matter, the most important element is immersion. That is to say, a student must not merely learn grammatical precepts and/or memorize vocabulary terms; they must actually utilize what they have learned in a real-world, conversational context.
At the end of a given lesson, I don't expect a student to simply regurgitate rules of grammar or word meanings. I want them to speak the language.
At the same time, it is most important to have fun and not be pressured or bored. I look forward to working with whomever requests my assistance.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I seek to utilize immersion in a language to better instruct students. If they have an opportunity to utilize a language in a practical way, they will better retain what they have learned.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would teach them basic grammar and vocabulary concepts framed within an introductory conversation. For example, they would learn how to give and ask for a name, identify a place of origin, and tell me how they are doing.
