Certified Tutor
Having experienced the deep satisfaction that comes from overcoming academic struggles to achieve excellence, I'm eager to help students reach their full potential!
I graduated from Williams College in 2013 with a degree in English, focusing on women in literature. During my time there, I tutored students at the local middle and high school. I have experience tutoring in middle school English, math, and science, and high school English, social studies, and essay revision.
My favorite part of tutoring is helping a student figure out how to connect their real passions to the schoolwork that's troubling them. One student hated writing essays, but loved playing the guitar with his band. I helped him plan an essay about his experiencing performing for a crowd, and he discovered that essay-writing wasn't a punishment--it was another way to express himself.
As a freelancer, I've worked as a writer for a test preparation company, giving me a solid background in test-taking strategies for the SAT and ACT. I love helping students learn strategies to unlock these intimidating tests!
In my spare time, I enjoy hiking and camping. I'm obsessed with Civil War historyI fell in love with the era when I started visiting the battlefields! I also enjoy creative writing, and I'm working on a novel set during the Civil War.
