I recently graduated summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Global Studies and Public & Nonprofit Management with a minor in Art. During my time at the U, I took classes in a wide variety of subjects and departments, always looking for new things to learn. I also studied abroad for six months in Sevilla, Spain, where I immersed myself in Spanish culture and honed my oral, reading, and writing Spanish skills, living with a Spanish host family and taking my classes at a Spanish university. During my junior and senior years in college, I volunteered at two different legal organizations, the International Institute of Minnesota and the Immigration Law Center, and today I am working part-time as a legal assistant at Marso & Michelson, P.A. in Minneapolis.
After graduating from high school and before starting college, I took a gap year abroad, during which time I lived and learned in Germany and Ethiopia. During my stay in Ethiopia, I worked with an after school girls' program where I tutored the girls in English and other middle and high school subjects. I also have a year's worth of tutoring experience in the St. Paul Public School system. Over the course of my freshman year at the U, I tutored middle school students at Murray Middle School in Geometry and Algebra.
I have extensive research and writing experience as well. In my final semester at the U, I wrote a 50+ page senior thesis on Western media's depiction of migration, which gave me invaluable research and writing skills. I've also completed countless college and scholarship essays, research papers and projects for social science classes, and business reports for my business classes. One of my favorite parts of writing for any of my classes has been reading and revising my peers' work to help them put forth their best possible essay. I look forward to providing the same assistance with any students I am privileged to tutor.
Learning has always been one of my greatest passions, and I'm excited to inspire the same passion for new knowledge to the students I work with. I understand that not every student learns the same way, and that methods which help some students succeed, are not as helpful for others. That's why I go into each new tutoring commitment with a desire to understand my student's needs and learning style, in order to find a tutoring style that works best for him or her.

Outside of tutoring and my job as a legal assistant, I love spending time outside exploring the wonderful surprises Minneapolis and our state of Minnesota have to offer. I'm also a passionate amateur photographer, an avid reader, and an occasional pianist.
