What is your teaching philosophy?
To create a connection with the student on a personal level and a professional level, and to make them feel comfortable, which will allow a better learning experience.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Get to know the student and become well acquainted with him/her.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
By encouraging them to be confident and continue to strive to learn. Teach them new techniques to help them study and do work while they are alone.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
By using personal experiences and telling them about all the possibilities that can result from being motivated.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Continue to go over the concepts and do problems over and over, changing up the explanation or method until they have a better understanding.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
By repeating the process of reading over the material at slower speeds, focusing on pronunciation and speech sounds.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Being kind, respectful, understanding, and compassionate, while implementing effective teaching techniques.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
By stating how easy it can become once they understand the concepts.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Giving them multiple practice problems and exercises, and having them explain their thought process.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
By helping them understand it better.

Going over what they are struggling with and working on their weak points.

By studying their learning patterns and adjusting techniques.
