Hello! As a professional editor, grant writer, and published author, writing is my life. My career experience includes teaching several years of college writing courses at the University of Pittsburgh, where I received a PhD in English and earned "highest distinction" on my written and oral exams. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Culture from Indiana University, where I graduated with the highest GPA in my major. I've met one-on-one with dozens of college students who needed help improving their writing, and I even served as an evaluator of college application essays. I love how becoming a better and more confident writer is a skill that applies to so many areas in life--in school, on the job market and in the workplace, and even in personal interactions. My favorite teaching moment is when a lesson 'clicks' with a student and they become enthusiastic about how a hard-earned skill can help them achieve their goals or express their thoughts and ideas. I am a great tutor not only because I have the training, experience, and enthusiasm, but also because I am a patient and warm people person who is highly attentive to student's strengths and weaknesses. I know when to slow down and find a new way to help a student work a particular skill or problem, and I also know when to challenge them to push to the next level.
