Hope: Lowell tutor
Certified Tutor
Currently in my final year of college, I feel extremely passionate about education and the opportunities for which it allows. I believe that all young people should have access to higher education, and an extensive education opens a person up not only intellectually, but emotionally and socially. I sought out tutoring in order to assist young people in accessing such a stimulating and formative experience.
Raised by a teacher, I feel personally connected to the education process, and I strongly feel that intelligence is not entirely connected to test scores or quantitative assessment. However, these assessments are necessary to access further education, and I hope to help students who do not feel attuned to such educational techniques succeed so they can exercise their intellectual potential in a university setting. I hope to encourage creative thought and intellectual curiosity, and help my students maintain a healthy, low-stress educational experience. Each student is different, and I feel that as a tutor I have the opportunity to mold my teaching approach to each individual, unlike a larger classroom setting. I want to understand my students' individualized approaches to learning, so that they may understand how to better their study skills and academic lifestyle.
I study Fine Art at UCLA, and the experience has taught me that education is most stimulating and productive when a student can foster a personal connection and excitement about the subject. I strongly believe in hard work in all aspects of life, but that comes most naturally out of genuine interest. I hope to help my students find genuine interest in the studies they do not feel connected to, and to help them excel in areas they never expected to excel.
