Cortland: Cicero tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I received a B.A. in Economics, and minored in Spanish for Professions and Education. During my time in school, I volunteered as a writing coach and worked with middle school students on creative and expository writing. Also during this time, I volunteered as an English tutor for a student organization that offered free English classes to recent immigrants. Following graduation, I accepted a teaching position with the Teach For America program working as a 3rd grade math, science, and social studies teacher in the Houston Independent School District. My favorite subjects to tutor include writing, math, and economics. I also tutor in social studies and history. Having been a classroom teacher, I understand the importance of supplemental support systems. Often teachers struggle to give every student the individualized attention they need to be successful in their education. As a tutor my goal is to assist classroom educators in this effort. I prefer to tutor in a relaxed and informal environment that is both comfortable and productive for the student. Please, reach out if you have any remaining questions about me or my work!
