Students are expected to ask me questions of anything that they do not know or understand about. That is how I know where to start teaching from. I like to find ways to relate the teaching material to a real life situation or examples that the student can easily relate to or understand as well as going at a slow steady pace to where the student can catch up and learn.

I'd like to know what are the student's strengths and weaknesses in the subject area as well as how well the student learns through visual, hearing, and hands on learning method.

I would allow the student to ask me questions of any concerns they may have, respond to it with an example to different types of questions or topic, then allow them to practice doing the problems on their own based on my given examples.

I normally would say encouraging words and provide feedbacks for improvements.

I would find different ways to help that student learn the concept or skill depending on how well the student copes with a particular learning method. Every person studies and learns things differently.

I would allow the students time to read over excerpts carefully and slowly, giving them some personal space. Most students who struggle with reading comprehension are students who feels pressured or nervous while reading because someone is hovering over them. Sometimes, they could be struggling because there is a word or two that they do not understand which can hinder their understanding of what they have just read.

Teaching at a slow and steady pace allows the student to think through and process the information that they are struggling with and allowing them to have lots of practice seems to help them out a lot.

I would come up with funny scenarios or exciting games and teach it in a way that would relate to the subject.

I would normally quiz them over what I went over with them the day of. Although, I would have to ask them if they are confident and assure that they know the subject well enough before I would quiz them that day.

I would allow them to have a lot of practice in that subject area. The more practice they have and the less mistakes they make, the higher their confidence will be in that subject area.

I would observe or ask of the way they learn and which method they learn best from.

It just all depends on how the students learn. It would most likely be trial and error at first, but I would adjust the way I teach with that particular student after seeing which method works well with him/her.

Normally just pencil and papers if in person so the student can have my notes that I wrote with them as reference once I leave.
