I recently earned a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Washington and also graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry. I have had a passion and aptitude for the natural sciences since I was a young boy; I love to pass this enthusiasm on to younger generations -- after all, we always need more scientists in the world!
I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring in both classroom and one-on-one settings, from middle school to undergraduate students. I would be equally happy to tutor younger children. I am a firm believer in the Socratic method of teaching and think that asking guiding, insightful questions is the best way to engender a robust understanding of a given concept in a student.
As for me, I am from Portland, Oregon originally. The Pacific Northwest is my home through and through; I am particularly enamored with the boundless outdoor opportunities constantly enticing me away from the metropolitan area. I love the rain and could not ask for a better backyard than the Cascades! I am an avid backcountry skier, alpine climber, cyclist, and runner. I also try to lead a well-rounded life by reading, playing/writing music, tending my garden and goofing off with my canine companion.
