Lara: Morris County tutor
Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of St. Mary's College of Maryland. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a minor in Education. Since graduating, I have taught a variety of subject and ages. I started out teaching a variety of Biology classes in a urban Biotechnology high school. During my tenure there, I taught Molecular Biology, General Biology, Special Education students, and Advanced Placement Biology. I have taught in a Pre-school program, focusing on teaching children the skills they need (both academic and social) for school. I have spent time teaching Reading to students with reading disabilities. My past several years have been spent focusing on Special Needs Students. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about all areas of Biology and Reading. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for Tests, we always seem to have the most fun (with remarkable advancements) working on ways to remember the vast number of terms that have to be memorized. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading that which enriches my life, creating costumes for a local ballet company, sewing, knitting, and walking our local trails.
