Certified Tutor

My name is Timothy. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin –Parkside with a BA in Spanish. However, my quest for learning the language did not start there, nor was it limited to the classroom.

While I did study Spanish at Union High School in Union Grove, WI, I also worked on a cabbage farm on the outskirts of town where I met and befriended various Mexican agricultural workers. I spoke Spanish with them every day and I
learned colloquial Mexican Spanish as well as experiencing Mexican music, food and customs.

After graduating from UW Parkside, I worked at a community based
organization called the Spanish Center in both Kenosha and Racine, Wisconsin.
There, I interpreted for monolingual Spanish speakers at medical and legal appointments. I also helped the people complete forms and advocated for them at government and private offices. I later performed very similar duties at an organization called Catholic Charities throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

I taught Spanish language, literature and culture at a private high school for some three years. I have worked as an individual tutor as well at different periods in my career.

My wife (who is from Guuanajuato, Mexico) and I speak Spanish at home, and I also speak Spanish often with my in-laws, who speak a very colloquial Spanish of Central Mexico.

For the past ten years I have worked as an interpreter and translator for the local school district.
I have dedicated my entire professional, and a
great portion of my private life to the practice, use and acquisition of the Spanish language. It is a constant theme in my life which I love and about which I am very passionate.
