Certified Tutor

I’m currently a senior at Rice University pursuing a degree in Earth Science. I've tutored writing at my university’s communication center for three years, and I tutor SAT Writing and Critical Reading with Varsity Tutors. I especially enjoy tutoring writing because I love working with my students to make their ideas into something that is both concrete and communicable. Writing can be fun, I promise! Tutoring, in my experience, is very collaborative. I strive to help my students identify relevant skills and knowledge that they already possess. By combining this foundation with new methods and providing continuous feedback, I can help students take ownership of the writing and test taking process. I've found that this approach works especially well for students who might more comfortable in areas like math or science. Outside of my studies, I like rowing, sailing, hiking, baking, and (attempting to) playing guitar.
