I received my BA in Mathematics from Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina. I am a graduate of the class of 2012. While I was in college I also earned my NC State Teaching License in Secondary Math grades 9-12. Next I received my masters in Math from Cal State Fullerton with an emphasis in teaching in 2016. I began tutoring 12 years ago when I was in 8th grade as a member of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) and have never stopped. I worked with my peers all through high school and was selected to tutor in the Academic Enrichment Center (AEC) at my college where I became the Head Math tutor. I completed my student teaching at Buncombe County Early College (BCEC) in Ashville, North Carolina. At BCEC I taught Integrated Math 2 and Integrated Math 3 to sophomores and juniors. I tutor the following: Algebra, Algebra 2, Geometry, Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Statistics, ACT and SAT Math, History and high school Chemistry. My favorite subject to tutor is Statistics. It was my focus area while working in the AEC and where I plan to obtain my masters. I enjoy it because most people that take statistics are not the most "Mathy" people. I love working with these students to learn the concepts. My second favorite is Geometry because of the hands on approach that it allows. I am not the type of tutor that will "GPS;" a student leading them blindly from step to step. My students will know WHY they are doing each step and learn life long problem solving skills. I believe that conceptual knowledge is more important than procedural knowledge. Knowing why you are doing something will stick with you longer than memorizing steps. I will explain concepts in as many different ways as it takes for one to click. I am extremely patient and will not be frustrated easily. I love working with students that hate or are afraid of math and will turn them into someone that loves math. In my spare time I love baseball (go Angels), Disney, crocheting, sports, and cooking.
