Certified Tutor
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to tutor and teach students in a variety of subjects. At the undergraduate level and for several years, I tutored students in Spanish, and non-native speakers in English through the America Reads Program. At the graduate level, I worked as a teaching assistant in cognitive psychology at the University of Arizona. I have enjoyed these endeavors thoroughly as seeing people succeed academically is extremely rewarding! For this reason, I understand when learning a foreign language or even the grammar and mechanics of your own can seem a bit intimidating. Moreover, I know attempting to write a compelling essay that will capture and keep your audience's rapt attention can be just as challenging. In addition, I can appreciate that understanding the concepts and science of psychology can be daunting--this is where I can help! For example, I enjoy helping others learn the foundations of grammar, pronounce words in Spanish with ease, and structure essays that are well organized and communicate ideas clearly. Learning is a fun and worthwhile endeavor when the pieces of an "academic puzzle" come together and start to make sense to you as you build your knowledge base. That is my job--helping you, the learner, make sense of a subject area so that you achieve and master your learning goals! In turn, I look forward to working with you on defining and in reaching those academic goals towards your learning success.
