Certified Tutor

I currently work full-time as a Civil Engineer for the Port of Long Beach. I am a graduate from the University of California, Irvine with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, and an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from California State University, Fullerton. My specialty for tutoring is primarily in math and the sciences, and I am confident in my abilities up to and including multi-variable calculus and differential equations. I have been working as a tutor since high school, initially as a private tutor for 2 junior high students and then transitioned into a math specialist and supervisor at Kumon Tutoring Center. I am comfortable with working in small groups or one on one, but I strongly believe one one one tutoring is most effective for the student. I am a visual instructor, meaning that I like my students to visualize the problem at hand before attempting to tackle it, and to not skip any steps in the process unless I am 100% confident in their abilities. In my experience, I find it important to be personable with my student in order for them to be comfortable and ready to learn. My interests include music, movies, cooking, building, and DIY hobbies.
