Certified Tutor

As a recent graduate from Fordham University, summa cum laude, I am eager to continue an activity that has made my college experience so rewarding: tutoring. Beginning my first semester, I supplemented my own academic curriculum with tutoring and teaching children in the Bronx. I believe that tutoring should be a mutual learning experience, and I am always willing to employ fun and creative strategies to help my students learn. My students understand that I am 100% dedicated to their progress and that no question is insignificant in the learning process. My work with various educational non-profits has allowed me to engage students from a range of backgrounds.
I began tutoring my first semester at college with middle school. As I helped them with their homework and test prep for high school, I developed a teaching style that promoted good study skills for my students to use beyond our tutoring sessions. For the past three years, I have worked extensively with students in SAT preparation and the college application process as a whole. I conduct sessions according to pre-laid lesson plans and continuously adapt them to my students' individual needs. While in college, I developed my writing and research skills, becoming extremely proficient in the areas of essay development and revision. My senior thesis, written about some of the first women to pursue higher education in the United States, was recently published in the Fordham Undergraduate Research Journal. I am also pursuing a law degree, which will help me further my goals to advocate for children and promote educational reform.
In my spare time, I love spending time with my family and close-knit group of friends. As a self-proclaimed "foodie," I enjoy cooking and eating all types of cuisines, especially in New York City. I look forward to hearing from all potential students!
