Personal Statement: Hello my name is Valerie and I live in Tempe, AZ but am originally from New Mexico, better known as the “Land of Enchantment”. I am a graduate from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education. I am currently working on a Masters Degree in Special Education. I am a certified teacher K-8 with an ESL Endorsement. I love teaching. I have taught as well as tutored students from Pre-K all the way to 8th grade. I love all subjects but I especially love math. I like to use a variety of strategies to help my students understand the concepts they are being taught because I know that everyone learns in their own way. I truly love teaching as well as learning. I believe that education is one of the most important things a person can have in life. I think learning should be engaging as well as fun and I hope to show you when we work together how to bring the fun to learning.

Interests and Hobbies: When I am not teaching or tutoring I love spending time with my family. I also love to dance, run, swim, cook and travel. I also love to watch old movies and retro television shows. I am avid collector of anything turtles. I have a huge collection and someday wish to get a real turtle as a pet.
