The student and I did a flashcard review. Her only true problem was in differentiating between when and went (in how it sounds and how it is spelled). We then read book 7 in the series and she did exceptionally well, wanting to read the book again. We finished with a spelling exercise in which she did quite well too, taking her time sounding things out.

Worked on review of the Pythagorean theorem, 60-30-90 and 45-45-90 degree theorems. We also covered a small amount of trigonometry. She had a positive attitude about the review on the theorems. I included some strategies for trig, like SOHCAHTOA and graphing triangles. I left her with some notes about trig we will revisit next week, and she is focusing on the curriculum for her upcoming test.

We review the student's test, and some of the answers he gave. We also covered exercises about equation mat method in order to compare algebraic expressions, and we also talked about inequalities and the "greater than" concept.

We only had a half hour to work together today because the student's mom asked me to come late. He didn't have homework so we worked on his multiplication facts for about 10 minutes and then reviewed fractions.
I asked him to place 5 fractions on a number line in order to develop his understanding of fractions in relation to one another. Comparing to 1/2, 0, and 1.

The student and I worked on homework using area models and number lines to solve equivalent fractions. She seemed to understand the concept well and we got through four pages of her homework without any trouble.

In this session we went over a question that the student was struggling with from class. Additionally, we began to review for her upcoming test by reviewing the concept of forces and inclined planes. Her skills are dramatically improving each time we meet!
