Tutoring review by Maroun in Rosenberg, TX
Today was our first session. We spent most of the session working on the assigned homework for sections 6.1-6.3 (quadrilaterals and parallelograms). We covered about 40 of the 55 assigned homework problems. The student also shared with me pictures of his last completed exam, as he does not get to keep the exams. This will help me better prepare him for the next exam, which is coming up on Jan 21. He seems to be very understanding of the core principles of geometry and algebra and is able to solve most of the problems on his own.

We went over the rest of the student's review, and I gave him a sheet of all the important points that he should know for his test. He is going into the test really confident.

Tutoring review by Jessica in Rosenberg, TX
The student came to me asking for homework help on adding fractions with different denominators. We worked on this assignment. We solved the problems by diagramming them, the way she was taught in class. After we reviewed this together, she was able to understand the concept, but sometimes when doing the problem gets confused and forgets how to do it. As she practices this more, she will get better and become less confused. The student needs to work on converting improper fractions into mixed numbers, simplifying fractions, and factoring numbers. We will need to go over these next session. I asked the student to continue playing the rounding game, and I am looking for a new multiplication game as she reports that she does not like the current one very much. We also worked a little on the student's pencil grip. If we change her pencil grip, she will be able to write longer and hopefully writing will not drain her energy as much as it currently does.

Today I met the student for the first time. He is a very smart 3rd grader. We went over some simple math concepts such as addition, subtraction, and multiplication. He is well versed in these operations but could become a bit faster. We will continue to go over our times tables to become faster at multiplication. We also looked at adding and subtracting fractions, which he knows well. I introduced him to adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. We will continue to work through other math concepts to see where he stands with them, and continue to practice other 3rd grade math concepts.

Tutoring review by Sylvia in Rosenberg, TX
Today he was very proud to present me with two awesome test/quiz grades from last week: 7/8 and 10/10! These included numerous word problems. After the excitement subsided, we reviewed the typical flashcards, worked various word problems, and did volume problems for complex geometric shapes. The word problems included topics such as capacity and utilizing conversions. Division was reviewed with Decimals in the divisor, carrying out the division process until the remainder is zero.

Tutoring review by Brendan in Rosenberg, TX
We did a rehash of solving equations, and got into some pretty difficult and lengthy examples. It seemed to clear up some confusion and conceptual uncertainty that the student had. I left him with around 15 practice problems to try before next session and told him to go through each one carefully after he was done to try and find mistakes.
