Tutoring review by Brian in Hales Corners, WI
The student is approaching finals week and needs to do well, as low scores in the first two marking periods put him at risk of having to take math and history over the summer. This week we completed his math homework and began to review past topics to identify weak areas. For history, we practiced breaking down each chapter into the most important facts and concepts. The student is to prepare potential essay topics for his English and history finals.

We covered the quadratic formula, factor method, and completing the square, as three methods to solving quadratic equations. The student picked up the final topics quickly and solved the problems with minimal assistance. The only tip I can suggest is that he keep track of the signs (whether a number is supposed to be positive or negative) as he brings them down from earlier steps. Otherwise, we've covered all of the material for his next quiz.. I left him some worksheets, and I think if he did a few the night before the quiz, to refresh his memory, he would be able to get a perfect score.

Tutoring review by Roozbeh in Hales Corners, WI
We went through the student's review for trigonometry. I explained the parts that she was struggling with. Then we went through the parts that she had to study for her exam on Tuesday to make sure she can solve the problems. We went through some of the questions that she had problems on then. I explained and solved some examples for her and then asked her to solve some problems to make sure she understood them. She is doing good.

Tutoring review by James in Hales Corners, WI
This was the student's last session, assuming he feels comfortable with his performance on the SAT this Saturday. We started by completing a math section and reviewing all the problems. We solidified a strategy for the math such that he should answer at least half the questions, but they don't have to be the first half. He should answer all the ones he is comfortable with. We then started a writing section and went over what he had completed. Once we worked through some of the questions he became more comfortable and was able to answer the rest of the questions. We tried a similar thing with a critical reading session and he was eventually able to answer most of the questions. We reviewed what to keep in mind while he is taking the test, to read slowly and carefully and not to make any unnecessary mistakes.

Tutoring review by Jerilynn in Hales Corners, WI
We continued to practice finding the Taylor series and Taylor polynomials for various functions by finding the coefficients and by modifying a known Taylor series. We also went through finding the radius of convergence for a power series and the interval of convergence by using our infinite series tests. Lastly, we used the Taylor polynomial for a function to approximate the value of the function near its center.

Tutoring review by Jacqueline in Hales Corners, WI
We worked on several different types of problems. These concepts were largely review but were phrased in ways that might not be immediately familiar. We talked about function notation, how to set up problems and a few geometry problems. We'll continue review next time.
