Tutoring review by Grace in Chesapeake, VA
We covered anti-derivatives. She is just starting with definite and indefinite integrals so we covered converting limits of sums to integrals. We also went over basic integration techniques such as the power rule and anti-derivatives of trig functions. We also worked on physics, specifically momentum and work. She seemed to understand the concepts pretty well. She sent me a copy of part of her last test which I will review and discuss with her next time.

Tutoring review by Madeleine in Chesapeake, VA
The student had missed a couple math assignments; today's session was spent with him completing those so he can receive credit. The assignments were on graphing lines from a given slope and the y-intercept. He also needed to identify a certain number of points that would fall on the line. He had a little trouble at first, but by the time the assignment was done, he was able to complete the problems correctly on his own. More practice would be a good idea before a quiz or test. The last 15 minutes of this session were spent reviewing vocab from chapter 8 in his social studies book. He had a few of the terms mixed up, but some he knew quite well.

Tutoring review by Benjamin in Chesapeake, VA
The student and I spent most of our time looking at a chemistry test review. He has trouble figuring out which formula to use on a given word problem but, once we talk through which formula is most appropriate, he does a great job applying it. After that, we worked on geometry for about a half hour. It was pretty similar. We used the notes and, sometimes, he would have trouble knowing which variable was which. He also had some difficulty with some of the concepts of circles and arcs. He seemed to have a much better grasp of them after we'd done a few problems and he could see how the parts worked together.

Tutoring review by Nick in Chesapeake, VA
The student and I worked on identifying chemical reactions from a practice lab experiment manual. He struggled with understanding the mechanics of each step in the lab because oxidation-reduction reactions and molecular motion of fluids had not been covered in class. To help him identify reactions in a general setting, I introduced him to the basics of metals as ions in solution and how they react to gain electrons and return to solids as well as how molten metals are able to flow and form homogeneous mixtures. At the end of the session, we went over some practice problems to review concepts from previous sessions.

Tutoring review by Andrea in Chesapeake, VA
We worked on complex numbers today. The student worked through her homework and was able to complete most of it. She is showing so much more confidence when working on her math problems. She is getting better about seeing her mistakes and correcting them right away. I am so excited to hear that her test scores are getting better and better each time. Good job!
