During this session we worked on vocabulary, reading, and writing. The student recently finished reading To Kill a Mockingbird and wrote a very good summary on it. We then worked on properly quoting techniques. We will continue with this next week.

Tutoring review by Sergio in Wyoming
The student and I reviewed all of the tenses learned up until now - present, preterit, imperfect, future, present subjunctive, past subjunctive, conditional, present perfect, and past perfect. We also reviewed in a little more detail the construction of the imperative both in the affirmative and in the negative. She spoke about her past 2 weeks and had a chance to practice the present, preterit, and imperfect, plus a little bit of the present perfect. We covered around 30 new terms and phrases. She has asked me to provide her with online resources for her to get a better grasp of the growing universe of tenses that she is now cognizant and increasingly fluid in. I will provide her with those resources before our next session.

Tutoring review by Katherine in Wyoming
The student completed a review activity and we read through Act 2 of "Hamlet." He was able to recall Act 1 very well, identify the characters and how they are related to Hamlet, and answer inference questions regarding the plot of "Hamlet." Well done!

Tutoring review by Matthew in Wyoming
The student and I worked through the tail end of her homework assignment for the day. The focus of the content area for the beginning of this new unit was similar triangles and related properties, although it also involved unit conversions (e.g., scaled drawings) and was somewhat heavy on algebra including systems of equations, simplifying expressions (e.g., combining like terms), and solving equations. The final problem was a bit complicated and, although we eventually came up with a reasonable answer, the first attempt resulted in a negative solution for the measure of an angle. I left her with our combined work for her to review. I will revisit that final problem and send her a detailed explanation as to why our first attempt at a solution failed.

Tutoring review by Kaitlyn in Wyoming
We talked about how to find the domain and range of functions, how to solve inequalities and put them into interval notation, and how to solve absolute value equations. The student was doing really well with it by the end of the session.
