Tutoring review by Carro in Coconut Creek, FL
We reviewed the student's homework in which he had to determine the measurement of given angles. Feedback was offered as it related to items that he should review and measure again. The way in which to measure angles with protractors was also reviewed. Tutor and teacher also discussed rays and angles, specifically the different angle types and naming angles.

Tutoring review by Hamid in Coconut Creek, FL
The student's physics course focuses on sound, primarily pertaining to speech. She is in the 3 section so, since it was our first session, we took extra time to clearly review chapters one and two before the third. We examined the basics of simple harmonic motion and standing waves. The more we described math as a language to describe the physical world and connected her enthusiasm for speech therapy and music, this developed more of an appreciation for the technical application of the math and physics to understand these phenomenon. Also we went over the differences between 2 closed or open ended standing waves AND standing waves with one open and one closed end. She is very interested in the material and stayed focused even during the long session without a break to fully tackle the concepts. I am excited to see her comprehension begin to come with ease and efficiency.

I planned to cover Reading and Writing drills. The student had slight difficulty with vocabulary, and I taught her context clue skills. I left her with vocabulary practice for Thursday. She had a very positive attitude. Her reading scores improved as we continued drills.

Tutoring review by Yemi in Coconut Creek, FL
Since the student has a test this week, we reviewed the concepts in Chapter 4, which included slope-intercept form equation, point-slope form equation, scatter plots, best fit line, arithmetic sequences, and piecewise functions. She understands the equations well, but struggles with graphing the piecewise functions. She tends to speed through it without understanding why she is doing certain things. I kept encouraging her to read the full question before starting the problem. Once we took a short stretching break and I told her to just take a second a read everything she understood what she was doing and was able to follow my explanations.

Tutoring review by Alexander in Coconut Creek, FL
First, we reviewed all of the concepts we covered in our last session. After that, we focused on angles. I showed the student the additive property of angles and gave him examples using supplementary and complementary angles. I then showed him how we could use supplementary angles to show that vertical angles are always equal. I showed him how math is about finding patterns and using our knowledge of how those patterns work to enhance our ability to solve problems, referring to the proof of vertical angles as a particular example. He seemed to want to eyeball the angles when I initially asked him to solve some supplementary angle problems, and I explained why you can't do that. He seemed to have some trouble with some basic algebra, so I'm going to focus on algebra next session, using geometric problems in the process.

Tutoring review by James in Coconut Creek, FL
We started this session with a quiz on fraction operations including using negative numbers. The student did very well on this quiz, earning a perfect score, so I think we have made positive progress in his understanding of fractions. Then we started working on factoring numbers and looking at common factors and the largest common factor between a pair of numbers. When he used the color chart we created, he did very well with the concept. I still think we need to work on having a firm grasp of the multiplication and division table 1 through 12. I think it would help make factoring and fractions easier to understand. We worked a little on the application of factoring. I think he started to understand the concept and see its use.
