These also included some division, which she is becoming more and more comfortable with. Her teacher didn't assign her a multiplication fact sheet for homework, though I think she is more than ready to do such an assignment!

We spent today's session going over the new material his class has started, solving one-step inequalities and graphing them. The student is fine with solving one-step equations. We also spent some time reviewing the signs rules for multiplying/dividing a negative by a negative, a positive by a negative, and a positive by a positive. The student did great!

During this session we worked on equations of circles. The student did a good job of picking up on the material. We also worked on parallel and perpendicular lines. As long as he takes his time and doesn't get parallel and perpendicular mixed up on his test today, he should do well.

The student has written over 10 pages of a free write assignment and I have encouraged him to keep writing the story because the topic interests him. I stressed character development, setting, and possible plot twists. I told him I expect 4 more pages when I see him again. His organized writing prompt discussed healthier menu items in schools and to argue a point. It was so much better than his other writing prompt last week, which discussed merging middle schools with high schools. His paragraphs were more organized and the transition sentences were a better fit. I asked him to write another one because he needs to work on his introductory sentences. While I grade his free-write, he works on his revised writing prompt with my corrections. When I grade his writing prompt, he free writes.
