We continued working on the review for the final, and we worked on solving quadratic inequalities, systems of equations, and setting up equations for parabolas. The student still needs to make her notecards so that she does not forget the equations for parabolas and how h, k, and p are related. We will work with her notecards and make sure she understands all the concepts on Wednesday.

We worked on math questions today. We did some really good content work. Practice is practice! I especially wanted to focus on some test-taking strategies for math questions. We worked on some word problems and talked about the order of operations. The student will benefit greatly from taking the time that she needs and paying attention to the details. She'll be great on Saturday! Our last session is scheduled for Friday, when we can go over some last-minute questions and review the strategies we've discussed over the last couple of weeks.

The student and I worked on concentration with a variety of activities, (card game, storytelling activity, and a focus exercise). We also did a timed drill on her multiplication facts and went over her language arts work. She has instructions to do 3 more timed drills before our next session. She is also to try to use the focus activity at school when her attention begins to wander.

The student went through a worksheet for her math class. She continues to be very quick with new concepts. She could work on her mental math, but she is mastering the actually difficult material. Effort spent towards that end would have to be motivated by some goal.
