Today we reviewed different math concepts--multiplication, division, fractions, lowest common denominator--for the student's test next week.

For today's lesson, we spent time doing practice problems in the student's weak areas, which include finding domain and range of a function, finding the x-and y-intercepts of a function, and absolute value equations. For science, we did more practice with concepts in electricity.

The student and I worked on preparing for his upcoming exam on electric fields, Gauss' law, electric flux, magnetic fields, and Ampere's law. We will continue the session tomorrow.

We covered box and whisker plots, standard deviation, the empirical rule (68%-95%-99.7%) and z-scores. I think the student picked up the concepts very quickly and I feel confident she will do well on her upcoming test! Z-scores were a new concept to her but after doing the practice problems I felt she was picking up the material very well. I will bring extra practice on this next session.

We spent most of the time working on homework on partial fractions. We went through the different types of questions that come up with partial fractions such as if the degree is higher in the numerator, repeated roots in the denominator, and if the denominator has a degree 2. We found solutions to some of his questions in his textbook. He is an extremely dedicated student and great to work with.
