Tutoring review by Joaquin in Marina Del Ray, CA
Student did a great job. We went over the homework that I assigned him and he did an awesome job. I assigned him homework based on exponent rules and finding the degree of the term and the degree of the polynomial. We also reviewed adding and subtracting polynomials. He is really good in math and he will do a great job on his test. We also went over multiplying polynomials using different methods such as the distributive property and the FOIL method. We also talked about multiplying binomial squared problems. We talked about the negative rule in exponents where you can never have a negative exponent. We also talked about scientific notation and how we should read it. He did a great job today.

I worked with both students for 90 minutes. We talked for about a half hour so I could assess their skill levels, discussing their history with learning French and what they would do with it. We went through several pages of their book, pausing after nearly every sentence to note the structure of the sentence, the arrangement of the subject and object, an interesting conjunction, a false cognate, a pronunciation note, a change of tone, an ambiguity, or to define new words. We will be having a small quiz on some irregular verb conjugations and reviewing negation structures on Monday.

The student and I investigated impulse and momentum during our session, doing some challenging problems and working ahead of his class.  He is doing very well and continuing to be an amazing student who learns very quickly.

Tutoring review by Paul in Marina Del Ray, CA
The student showed me his quiz from a few days ago and we went over the mistakes he made. He made great progress when we worked on the material from Chapter 3.2, including regression data plots, r-squared, s (standard deviation of residuals) and interpreting residual plots. I think the main issue for him is being comfortable with the definitions of the terms so that he can apply them in terms of the variables. By the end of the session I felt that he was growing comfortable with the material.

Tutoring review by Marlene in Marina Del Ray, CA
The student had not completed the homework assigned. He received the text book, so we continued our content review in that book instead of the old one that he (and I) had. We completed math through exponents and elementary algebra. Some of the concepts were new to him, but he is a very quick learner, and absorbs new math concepts very easily. His reading comprehension skills are very good. We are pushing through the content review quite quickly, but he seems to be keeping up very well.

Tutoring review by Megan in Marina Del Ray, CA
Same as Thursday's session. The topics we've been covering have been pretty broad, as we're jumping around her semester. We've been talking about the circulatory, digestive, immune systems, macromolecules, fungi phylogeny and reproduction, bacteria and archae, homeostasis, thermogenesis, and autotrophy vs heterotrophy and phototrophy vs chemotrophy.
