First off, good news! The student got a B on her Physics test last week. She also made a B on her Spanish test on Friday. Nice job :) Today the student and I reviewed her Physics acceleration homework. We also worked through her Spanish workbook and started studying for her History exam on Friday.

In our last session, I helped the student apply the work we had been doing on reading comprehension and math to actual ASVAB problems. He performed well on the vocabulary questions and reading comprehension, but still struggled on his math sections.

The student has a test tomorrow, so we reviewed the entire chapter. There was one section giving her some problems, so we worked on that extensively. I also helped her correct her extra credit problems.

The student and I reviewed the beginning three sections of her finals review. We went over scientific theory, cell size, hereditary traits, reproduction, what keeps populations in check, biomes, and experiment variables. She made flash cards for every vocabulary word we went over. We will meet again on Saturday at 10am for 1.5 hours to continue and hopefully finish the finals review sheet so that on Sunday we can just work on her weak points before her exam.

1. Corrected assigned questions and formatively assessed the student's comfort with the previous session's materials 2. Reviewed heat capacity and its relationship to the specific heat of substances 3. Showed the student how to perform calorimetric calculations using specific heat and heat capacity 4. Reviewed problems on Hess's Law 5. Reviewed periodic table trends concerning atomic radius, electron affinity, ionization energy and how these relate to trends in group reactivity 6. Assigned the student some review questions on all topics covered. In all, the student became very comfortable with the material covered during the session.

We completed some math problems. I then timed him for the science portion. He did really well on this particular practice exam, missing only 3 questions, which put him at a scaled score of about a 34 for that section. He just needs to build up his endurance and concentration
