Today we worked mostly with differential equations, and went over a variety of problems. We went over a worksheet that she had from class.

The student and I worked on his Calculus homework which was just practice multiple choice problems from past AP Calc tests. The student has a good understanding of most material. He does mix up theorems sometimes, but overall he understand the math behind the questions.

I looked over her English homework, she understood how to do it, but she didn't apply all of the tenses correctly. Once I pointed them out to her she realized her mistakes on her own and corrected them. We then worked on her math homework together. She was having some trouble at first but I walked her through it one by one and she was ok, but she still needs to practice. We had some spare time towards the end so we started to go over her vocabulary focusing on 1-7.

Today, we went over an online worksheet that covered certain areas of Biology. We also discussed preparing for the final exam since it is at the beginning of June. I gave the student homework and told her to go over her first two tests of the semester and come to the next session with any questions and concepts she didn't understand for those tests.

This was my first session with the student. I wanted to use the opportunity to learn about how he learns and what holes exist in his knowledge of the subject. He wanted to go over a take-home test that he had been given covering equations of square and cube roots. He seemed to understand the bulk of the material but tended to use the multiple choice answers available to him to find the solution when it would be faster to solve the problem as it was meant to be solved. I showed him how to do so. Finally we did some practice problems. I plan on bringing more practice material for him.

During this session we did more of the same in preparation for the AP stats exam. All practice free response problems from the 2007 and 2014 AP stats exams. We got through just about all of the problems on both tests. Specifically we covered marginal means and proportions, general probability, study design, paired t-tests, residuals, and significance testing. As a whole, the student is doing very well, it's just the specifics in various problems that he's having trouble with. We'll just be doing more of the same until his AP test.
