We worked mainly on exponential growth and decay problems, as well as a few integral interpretation techniques. He seemed to get the material well, but when applying separation of variables it posed a challenge for him (mainly because his teacher hadn't taught him the concept at all). He had a good attitude towards the material. I taught him separation of variables during the session, and let him know that looking up separation of variable examples would be a good idea to solidify the information with him.

Student received a 92 on a recent quiz. We completed a review of finding the vertex, directrix, and foci of a parabola. I provided a detailed breakdown of all variables and how they affect the translation of where the parabola is designated on the coordinate plane. We also completed specific formulas for standard and vertex form of the equation for the parabola. In addition, we completed practice problems to solidify concepts.

We reviewed the novel "Blubber" via utilizing a KWL chart. The student was able to summarize the book using this reading strategy format. I feel she had a strong command of the plot of the story. She is making great progress. Her enthusiasm towards reading is impressive. We also covered ratio and proportional reasoning. She achieved 83% mastery level on her practice exam. We used generic ratios to facilitate solving problems involving proportional reasoning. Her attitude towards the mathematical material invokes my confidence in her aptitude to accomplish a high level of success this school year.

Lastly, we covered stem cell research and did a quick review for her upcoming test. We also went over how to prepare for her upcoming test. She will review her summaries and do any practice problems from the book. Once we get the test score back we will review it and make adjustments as to how to study and prepare.
