Tutoring review by Lyra in Tamarac, FL
The student and I covered some applications of the Pythagorean Theorem and its modifications, including how to classify a triangle as acute, right or obtuse by its side lengths, and also how to use the Special Right Triangle formulae. We reviewed how to simplify a radical and finished all of the problem on her review packet for her upcoming test. It was a steady, valuable session where we clarified a lot of concepts she had been struggling with.

Tutoring review by Timothy in Tamarac, FL
The student and I did some preparation for a test next week. The main area we focused on was the chain rule, although there were plenty of power and product rules as well. Of particular note was a focus on taking the derivative of e^x and the derivative of say cos(sin(x))^-2. As with most students it is the "order" to apply the rules to take the derivatives and that presents the greatest challenge early on. Applying the rule is not so difficult. As always I feel she is doing well in her class and is able to pick up new material quickly. We had a little discussion on study techniques at the end of our lesson.

The student read a passage twice and graphed how many words she read correctly in one minute. Then we read the third chapter of a book. We discussed the characters and what had happened so far in the story. She made predictions for what would happen in the third chapter. She practiced sounding out words that she did not know and using context clues to determine their meaning. She used great expression while reading! We then practiced a variety of math concepts including, factoring, multiplying, and more.

We covered imines, enamines and reaction mechanisms. The student's weak point seems to be reactions. She was really great to work with. We have implemented strategies to assist her in cracking the organic chem nut. She was left with assignments and practice problems.

Tutoring review by Dayna in Tamarac, FL
Today we started some practice problems given by the student's professor. These included practice with inequalities, word problems, equations for a circle, midpoint, and distance. There are a few formulas he has to memorize. Other than that, practice problems will be the best way for him to prepare for his Algebra test next week.
