I am a Master of Divinity student at Princeton Theological Seminary. I graduated Harvard College in 2016 and was a peer tutor at Harvard. Before Divinity School, I taught high school and middle school debate and was an SAT/ACT tutor in Birmingham, Alabama. I then taught middle school debate at Success Academy in Harlem and served as a healthcare advocate. I have extensive experience tutoring English, math, science, and SAT/ACT at the middle school through college level. I have tutored students who went on to be accepted into Ivy League universities. I also am highly skilled at working with students with learning differences such as ADHD, autism, and dyslexia as well as students from under-resourced communities. I look forward to helping your student not only excel but also enjoy learning!

I'm a Cornell University alumnus with a BA in Philosophy and Mathematics. My minor was Linguistics. Currently, I'm finishing an MSc in Logic from the University of Amsterdam. I tutor math, chemistry, logic, philosophy, English, Latin, and ACT prep. During my senior year, I was an undergraduate course assistant for Calculus I at Cornell, grading homework and conducting weekly homework study groups. I also taught courses on the philosophy of physics, mnemonics, and category theory to middle school students for a program called Splash. While living in Amsterdam, I was the TA for an introductory cognitive science course that included propositional logic and formal language theory. I took pride in giving highly detailed responses to students' questions, providing concrete examples and analogies to more familiar topics. My teaching philosophy is one of kindness, optimism, and patience. Also, I like to make my lessons as entertaining as possible, which is not difficult because I can be a goof even when it's not intentional. I can break complex topics down to their atoms. I never skip steps or assume that something is understood without confirmation. I try to see everything from your perspective. Most importantly, I work hard. I will go the extra mile to help you. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy writing stories and music. I spend about 2 hours every day exercising, and I love being outdoors!

I recently graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor's of Science in Neuroscience. As a prospective medical student, I have and will continue to spend a lot of time in the classroom, understanding what makes teaching and learning most effective. I work to integrate my studies into my tutoring, focusing on giving meaningful examples to help drive complex topics home and provide plenty of opportunities for repetition to increase retention. I have a few years of formal tutoring experience, primarily in middle school and high school math, though my focus and interests have shifted since then. Now, my expertise lies in neuroscience, MCAT prep, and all the relevant class material included in those specialties (biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics, etc). I've spent most of my education informally tutoring those around me. Whether it was a teacher's request to help explain a concept to my peers or taking the initiative to help out my peers with challenging subjects, I've had plenty of practice working with a variety of subjects and students. I hope to help students not only learn material but understand how they best learn and study, raising their confidence and comfortability inside and outside of the classroom.

Brianni

AP Calculus AB Tutor • +32 Subjects

Hello! My name is Brianni, and I'm passionate about helping students discover the strengths they already have while building the confidence and skills they need to grow. I have been tutoring since high school, when a former teacher asked me to support one of her students. That experience sparked my love for teaching and mentoring, and I've been committed to helping learners succeed ever since. My strongest subject areas are mathematics and writing, where I specialize in breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps. As both an educator and a psychology graduate student, I understand that every learner is unique. I believe students learn best when they feel seen, supported, and challenged in ways that fit their individual needs. Whether we are solving equations or refining essays, my goal is to create a space where students feel confident asking questions, taking risks, and growing academically. I am excited to partner with you and help you reach your goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Varsity Tutors connects students with tutors across a wide range of social sciences disciplines, including History, Government, Economics, Geography, Sociology, Anthropology, and Psychology. Whether you're studying U.S. History, World Civilizations, AP Government, Microeconomics, or any other social sciences course, expert tutors can provide personalized instruction tailored to your curriculum and learning goals.

In a classroom, teachers must balance the needs of 20-30+ students with varying paces and learning styles. With personalized 1-on-1 instruction, tutors adapt their teaching approach specifically to how you learn best—whether that means spending extra time on primary source analysis, working through essay structure, or diving deeper into complex concepts like supply and demand or historical causation. This targeted approach helps you build confidence and mastery faster than a one-size-fits-all classroom environment.

Absolutely. Many students find social sciences challenging because it requires multiple skill sets—reading comprehension, critical thinking, writing, and memorization. Personalized tutoring addresses the specific skill gaps holding you back. Whether you're struggling with essay writing, understanding historical context, analyzing data, or grasping economic principles, tutors work with you to build foundational skills while keeping up with your coursework.

Yes. Advanced students benefit from tutoring that pushes them further—preparing for AP and IB exams, developing sophisticated analytical arguments, mastering multiple perspectives on complex historical or political issues, and polishing research projects. Tutors can help you move beyond surface-level understanding to think critically and argue persuasively, skills that strengthen college applications and prepare you for higher-level coursework.

Yes. Essay writing is central to social sciences success, and personalized tutoring can help you develop stronger arguments, organize ideas logically, use evidence effectively, and refine your voice. Tutors work with you on everything from thesis statements and paragraph structure to citation formats and analytical writing—helping you write more persuasive, well-supported essays across History, Government, Economics, and other disciplines.

Yes. Tutors prepare students for AP History, AP Government, AP Economics, IB History, Civics assessments, and other standardized social sciences exams. Beyond just content review, tutors teach test-taking strategies, help you practice with released exams, improve time management, and strengthen the specific skills each test measures—whether that's analyzing primary sources, interpreting charts and data, or constructing timed essays.

Connect with Varsity Tutors by telling us your subject, grade level, and specific goals—whether that's improving essay grades, preparing for an AP exam, or building confidence in a particular topic. You'll be matched with an expert tutor who has experience teaching your specific social sciences subject and understands your curriculum. From there, you can start personalized instruction right away, working at your own pace.
