GED Tutoring FAQ
Life does not always progress on a straight and simple path, but that does not mean that you cannot succeed, even if you have had to step off the normal road to high school graduation. Many paths can meet again at the goal of graduation, and the GED provides one such avenue to your future success. This exam is an important step in your continued personal development, and you should do all that is in your power to make sure that you perform at the peak of your abilities on the day of the test. Let Varsity Tutors help you achieve success by helping you connect with an experienced GED tutor. Contact us today to discuss the GED tutoring options available in your area.
The GED exam is a comprehensive evaluation of the subjects that you will be expected to have mastered in order to prove your proficiency at the level of completed high school studies. While you likely have utilized many books, and perhaps even attended classes to help you prepare for the examination, it may be necessary for you to provide yourself with a rigorous program of review before the all-important test day. Personal GED tutoring can provide that assistance. By tailoring your GED tutoring program to meet your specific strengths and weaknesses, your GED tutor can help you to target just those areas that need specific reinforcement, saving you time and frustration during the busy and difficult time of GED test preparation. Instead of being just another face in a classroom, your personal tutor can treat you like the unique student that you are, helping you to achieve your goals based on your particular circumstances and educational experience. Your sessions can focus on the specific concepts and question formats that you find most challenging, so that you can achieve success on test day.
The material on the GED is presented in numerous different ways, some of which may be less intuitive than others. Even if you feel confident with the subjects covered on the exam, your tutor can give you valuable strategies for approaching the different questions and formats on exam day. Even before the time of final test preparation, a tutor can help you succeed in the coursework that you might be taking to help you prepare for the exam. Perhaps your math review class is moving too quickly. Instead of falling behind and potentially failing to grasp the material fully, a tutor can help you overcome any initial difficulties before they cause any future problems. The same is possible for all of your learning within the GED test categories. A personal GED tutor can help you establish a firm foundation for future success by providing you with an excellent grasp of principles from the beginning. Given the importance of education in today's workforce, you must not underrate the importance of finishing high school. If you are going to receive a GED as the means of completing this period of your education, do not risk your future by being under-prepared.
Your tutor will meet with you wherever and whenever you choose so that you can be fully prepared for taking the GED. You pick the location that works the best for you at a time that is the most convenient for your busy schedule. You can choose to meet with your tutor in person, or if you prefer arrangements can be made to have face-to-face online sessions. Weekend, evening, or daytime sessions can be conducted so that you have ample opportunity to meet with your tutor to prepare for your GED test. Contact Varsity Tutors today and let them help you connect with the perfect tutor to help you in your GED preparation!

Recent GED Tutoring Session Notes
We continued to work through math concepts for the GED. I discovered that her memory of basic concepts is strong. She has challenges applying it to word problems. I also have her assessment results from a course she took. We will also transition into more Science soon.
The student and I continued reviewing the Social Studies section of the test. We went over strategies for how to answer the questions efficiently. We focused on questions pertaining to graphs and charts because those are the questions that the student struggles with the most.
Today we mostly worked on triangles (right, acute, scalene, etc.). We discussed the definitions of each and then worked on problems from the book. I think the most important thing is that the student learn and understand the differences between triangles so that she can apply it to the problems. Next week we will continue to review triangles but also go over angles. I also plan to go over quadrilaterals and graphing.
The student is going to be taking the math portion of the GED. Today we reviewed some basic operations so that he's got a good foundation to build on. Specifically, we worked on factoring, finding the common denominator, finding the greatest common factor, and adding fractions. We also touched on ratios, squares, and square roots. I left him with some worksheets as well as some websites that will allow him some more practice GED problems. He will really benefit from some drilling of the basics, so we'll be working on that next session.
This was our first session, so i spent a few minutes getting to know the student and providing him with my background. He only wants to work on the math portions of the test, so we began discussing general strategies, sections of the test, and content. On content, we covered: numbers and operations; rounding whole numbers; comparing, ordering and grouping; choosing the operation; multiplying and dividing whole numbers; steps for solving word problems; and order of operations. In the test prep book, we covered pages 456-475. I assigned some homework for him, and suggested he make flashcards to learn the multiplication table.
We had a more productive session. We covered the first 10 pages or so on the Algebra & Geometry chapter, which addressed the issue of when to use addition/subtraction/multiplication/division/powers/roots in algebra problems, as well as a section on word problems. We will continue working on the chapter during our meeting tomorrow.
