The student and I covered creating wave functions from diagrams and vice-versa. I included the strategy of breaking the problem down effectively so that he could better keep up with what he is thinking.

The student worked on her project, and on new homework involving polynomial division and simplification. She is picking up on it, which is a good sign. She has finished her project, and I will be checking it at our next session

Today was a lesson on truth tables. I explained the difference between a conjunction and disjunction statement as we analyzed the different combinations of truth values for p and q. I walked him through the notes given by the teacher to create the truth tables and answered questions regarding the truth values. The student seemed to understand after the presentation of information, but more practice is suggested. I am looking forward to working with him.

Tutoring review by Elisabeth in Michigan
Today, we focused on more lessons from his teacher and worked on his online homework. He is improving in writing out the problems so he has an easier time applying the method. We started word problems as well; however, he still struggles with applying the math concepts. We have worked through them, and I taught him how to pick out key terms. I noticed that when there is logic involved in problems, he struggles with that as well, so I will need to teach him how to think logically and go beyond what he is taught. Other than that, I see improvement. He's understanding my tips and lessons, so I think with more time, he will feel more confident.

Tutoring review by Jennifer in Michigan
We spent today's session reviewing material for the student's algebra test on Friday. She was assigned 100 review problems as homework, so we spent most of the session working through those. She has a clear understanding of standard and function notation which was something that gave her a bit of trouble in our session last week. She was still having trouble remembering what it means when a slope is undefined vs. when the slope is zero. Luckily this came up plenty of times in the practice problems so by the end of our session, she had a much clearer understanding, but I advised her to review that more and to definitely look over it right before she takes her test. Overall she did well with the material and should be well prepared for her test.

We worked intensively on Spelling lesson 7. The student wrote each word three times, then for the words he had difficulty spelling, we created flashcards with the word definition, and then he practiced matching the words to their definitions. I asked him to look at these flashcards as often as he can, and on Thursday, if he brings the flashcards to our lesson, we can move on to more work practicing cursive and using those words in writing. He spelled fewer words incorrectly this time as in comparison to lesson 5 words!
